The Heights of Luxury

An Iconic High-Rise Where Luxury Meets Skyline Views

Step into a world of luxury in this stunning two-story high-rise condo overlooking the city of Los Angeles. This project, which featured a complete redesign and build from its concrete framework, had previously remained untouched since the 90s.

Our clients craved a change to city living and wanted a bold home that embraced their artwork collection. Enter through the foyer, where a custom entryway floor welcomes you. A wall of antique mirrors hides a hidden coat closet and the museum-worthy furniture piece that doubles as an art display, crowned by an original Picasso.

Off the entryway is the two-story living room, and dining area, where floor-to-ceiling windows offer breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline with south-facing sunlight.

A large, enveloping blue chenille Edra sofa paired with a Kelly Wearstler rug grounds the room, while the ghost chandelier adds a perfect twinkling to the ceiling without distracting from the artwork. The challenge was creating the two-story fireplace which involved strategic planning with slabs to ensure getting through the elevator and seamless seams. Glossy black piano doors tie in with the iron railing and other black elements in the room. And a espresso-stained oak herringbone floor runs throughout the entire home.

Since the dining room doesn’t share it’s same two-story height as the living room, we made an effort to add drama upwards with a custom painted wallpaper on the ceiling. A one-of-a-kind Claudia Santorini brass dining base is surrounded by custom brass and velvet dining chairs. And the gorgeous custom chandelier helps mimic the abstract lines of the table while adding more glamour to the wallpaper. Off the dining room and living room is the stairwell to the second story where the bedrooms are. And we made sure to utilize the empty space behind the stairwell for a hidden bar that was packed with glamour with zebra wood, antique mirrored glass, and nero marquina marble.

Just behind the hidden bar is the powder bathroom. A dark and moody room featuring a brass-inlay backsplash tile and custom nero marquina vanity. High-gloss, black, fluted walls set the tone and blend in effortlessly with the ceiling and black marble floors.

Just off the living room is the library office. With glass fluted pocket doors, the room can be completely closed off, or, act as an extension of the living room. A coffered ceiling helps break up the building’s structural soffits and a silk wallpaper helps bridge the gap between the ceiling and walnut-stained white oak cabinetry. An alabaster and bronze light serves as center stage.

The kitchen features rich blue-grey cabinetry adorned with polished brass hardware and fixtures. A strategically fabricated marble countertop and backsplash adds statement to the room. And a large island is the perfect area for family to gather around. An in-drywall hood allows for a clear view of the skyline.

We utilized an empty wall nook for an antique mirror center piece with trim and moulding as a beautiful architectural element in the bedroom. A beautiful, custom sofa provides the seating area just off the bed and a wrought-iron ivy adorned lamp further pushes the garden motif.

The kitchen opens up to a breakfast nook overlooking city and ocean views and more custom cabinetry - a stained white oak in a blue-grey. Bold and dynamic chairs surround a delicate pedestal table. Brass grills adorning the cabinetry allows for a break in otherwise solid panel doors. And a door opens up to pantry storage continuing nods of black and white with a checkered marble flooring. And a detailed touch of brass railing. Off the breakfast nook is the downstairs guest bedroom which doubles as a lounging room. Bold artwork sits on top of a suede wallpaper and a leather daybed adds a perfect masculine touch.

Once upstairs through the iron staircase, the master bedroom entryway vestibule is our favorite “room” of the house. Featuring a completely custom calacatta gold marble entryway floor with brass inlay that we designed just for the space and a bespoke console table. The space adds the perfect dramatic entrance to the master bedroom suite.

The master bedroom features breathtaking views of the city and ocean with the bed at center. European bronzed mirrored closet doors act as an extension of the skyline views while a curved sofa adds the perfect place to relax and look out. We took advantage of the long narrow space by creating an intricate moulding design for the ceiling and adding a custom brass chandelier. This way the length of the room felt purposeful.
